45 Years of the Serbian Orthodox Church St John the Baptist in Halifax

The Serbian Church of St John the Baptist is celebrating its 45th Anniversary during the ‘Serbian Month in Great Britain 2012’ initiative and to be part of the ‘Celebrating and Enhancing British Serb Identity’ project supported by the Big Lottery Fund.

Programme

The programme for the day 4th February will include:

10.30 Arrival of HRH Princess Katarina Karadjordjevic
10.40-11.40 Holy liturgy
11.40-15.00 Presentations and cultural programme in the Community Hall, to include:
  • Welcome speeches from the host: Very Reverend Aleksandar Ilic
  • Guest Speakers including: HRH, Bishop for the Serbian Diocese of Britain and Scandinavia, G.Dositej; The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Britain, HE Dejan Popovic
  • Serbian music and folklore dance
  • Serbian food and drinks
  • Exhibition of the archived recordings and photographs of the community members
  • Exhibition of paintings from Serbian artists, specially prepared by Aleksandra Ristic of Fine Art Escape – Cambridge Art Gallery www.fineartescape.com

Join us with our guest of honour, Her Royal Highness Princess Katarina Karadjordjevic, for the Serbian Community Open Day, at the Serbian Church St John the Baptist, in Halifax on Saturday 4th February 2012 from 10.30 to 15.00.
