‘The Inspire ArtSpace’ is a new, temporary, contemporary arts hub in Cambridge.  As part of the citywide ‘Changing Spaces’ project, the Grafton centre has provided leading disability charity ‘Inspire’ with a large empty retail property from now until October 18th 2009. The space will be used to exhibit the talents of local artists as well as a platform for sales, events and weekly workshops.

Changing Spaces is a volunteer-lead scheme supported by Cambridge City Council and Love Cambridge with the aim of “Creatively Enhancing our High Street” through rejuvenation projects in local empty shops. This summer the project has taken over 12 empty shops across the city and exhibited a wide variety of exciting window exhibition. ‘The Inspire ArtSpace’ is the first instance of a public participatory ‘Changing Spaces’ project and a unique link with the leading disability ‘Inspire’.

It is hoped that the success of this vibrant project will lead to ‘Changing Spaces’ providing other artistic groups with opportunities to occupy empty shops.
