The exhibition of monotypes by Stojan Djuric is opened from Friday May 14 until June 4, 2010 at the Gallery of Belgrade Fortress. The gallery is open every day in between 11:00 and 7pm.

The artistic expression of Stojan Djuric was formed in the context of the Belgrade traditionalist art movement, characterized by an affinity for the intimate, the sophisticated and the poetic, but also by the artist’s awareness of the right to delete the boundaries between what is personal and what is common, what is original and what is borrowed.

In the pieces featured in this exhibition, the author chose the subject of a female nude, obtained in the technique of monotyping, in a language that is absolutely pure and reduced. It is clear that a female body is the artist’s everlasting theme. Through the spontaneity of playing and enjoying the creation, the author has preserved the fascination of the view and the immediate joy of storytelling. There is some fine irony in there, the humour infused with life and with the modern man’s position towards the hyper-production of erotic imagery in contemporary mass-media culture.
