If you are after original and contemporary works of art, then Amsterdam Affordable Art Fair is one that should not be missed. Whether this is your first time or you are a seasoned campaigner in the world of contemporary art collection, there is something to suit everyone’s taste and budget. Thousands of paintings, pieces of sculpture, original prints and photographs are on display from almost 90 galleries. The prices range from €100 to €5000, so it is truly affordable.
Want to check out new artists? This is the place. Take a browse through the “Ongekend Talent” exhibition and be amazed at what the top young artists from Dutch academies are creating.
The setting for the Art Fair is just as stunning as the artworks themselves. Its location is the 19th century gasworks in the Westergasfabriek terrain, which is easily accessible as it is close to Amsterdam Central station and only a short stroll or bike ride from the town centre. The fair opens on Thursday 29th October and concludes on Sunday 1st November, with a Private View on 28th October.
On Thursday evening, you may care to take in the AAFond, where a complimentary glass of wine will be supplied as you view the artworks. An added bonus is that you are able to support “Paint a Future”, which is a fantastic cause, and have the opportunity to win a brilliant piece of art!
The Fair is not just about buying art. It is a chance to meet up with like minded friends and family and take part in free workshops concerning art techniques. A cafe affords the time to relax and refuel and there is even a wine bar. Overall, this is a perfect place to enjoy contemporary art and find something for your own collection.
